Tai Chi Chuan

TAI CHI CHUAN, Yang Style, Long Form

GRAND ULTIMATE FIST - Originating from the Taoist Tai Chi philosophy, Tai Chi Chuan uses the circular Yin and Yang symbol to demonstrate the interconnection and harmony of things which seem to be opposite. Tai Chi follows a natural flow from one thing to the next, balancing action and reaction, and can be a moving mediation. A major part of the training, and the most popularly known aspect of Tai Chi, is a pre-set sequence of slow, smooth movements, which offers many health benefits. Originally a martial art, my style is taught with practical fighting applications for each of the movements.

Since 1983, I have studied with Chinese martial arts master, Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming PhD, and have actively participated in national and international competitions, earning gold medals in Tai Chi Chuan, Pushing Hands, Shaolin sword, Tai Chi sword, and Bagua Deer Hooks.

The health aspects of Tai Chi come from what is known as Qigong (Chi Kung). I study Chi Kung in order to fully discover my inner body, and to understand the vital bioenergy, which allows the cells in the body to function. The connection between my mental awareness and inner body allows me to direct my body's energy smoothly; to manifest Qi energy for martial arts, to raise my spirit and to coordinate my movements skillfully. Without an understanding of the internal aspects, my training would be shallow and my results would fade as my body aged. However, by training internally, age will not take away all that I have struggled to develop. Chi Kung involves detailed study of the body's anatomy and energy system, a study of massage, and meditation.

My time training in martial arts has brought me many treasures. Knowledge that has been preserved, enhanced, and passed down for generations is something one must never forget or disrespect. I am proud to have studied under such a notable teachers as Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming, Master Jou, Tsung Hwa, Master Shou-Yu Liang, Master Wei Lun Huang, Master Bruce Kumar Frantzis, Patricia Walden, and Arthur Goodridge. I am eager to continue the tradition of preserving and passing down the knowledge and wisdom of the martial arts and yoga that I have learned from these world renown masters. My goal is to help and guide other interested individuals into a correct path of practice.
