Ramel ‘Rami’ Rones moved to Boston from Israel in 1983 to study martial arts with renown traditional Chinese Master, Dr. Yang-Jwing Ming.
After years of winning gold medals in China and in the United States, Ramel now focuses his efforts on helping people with situations such as cancer, arthritis, aging, injuries, and stress. He is a Scientific Consultant of Mind/Body Therapies at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and Harvard and Tufts Medical Schools, as well as co-author of numerous scientific publications. He lectures and instructs the techniques of the eastern Internal Arts in hospitals, institutions, and schools around the world. In addition to contributing articles to medical publications, Ramel has been featured on international television (CNN, National Geographic), in newspapers (New York Times, Boston Globe), magazines (Inside Kung Fu), books, and videos. |

- Join us for Rami's author talk at the Brighton Branch of the Boston Public Library (map). Thursday April 28th at 6:00 PM
- The first group from the R-O1 Osteoarthritis of the knee study will begin on 3/21. The plan has 3 Tai Chi instructors training 3 physiotherapies with 30 patients each. 180 people all together. 90 in the Tai Chi and 90 in the control group. Who among the instructors will produce the best results? They will all use Rami's mind body prescriptions and the Tai Chi form from his book Sunrise Tai Chi. Can the previous results be duplicated without Rami as the instructor?
- Rami's study, "Tai Chi for Treating Knee Osteoarthritis: Designing a Long-Term Follow Up Randomized Controlled Trial" (BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders - July 2008), has been included in the Mental Health Synthesis (MHS), an online archive that selects and provides free access to the best works related to Health Behavior published on the Internet over the last decade. - Tai Chi Proven Effective for Fibromyalgia. Ramel Rones is featured in a New York Times article "Tai Chi Reported to Ease Fibromyalgia" on August 19, 2010. The story was picked up in the news after the results from a study at Tufts Medical Center were published in the New England Journal of Medicine. The 12-week study, designed by Ramel Rones, concluded that regular Tai Chi practice can help patients with Fibromyalgia, a chronic pain condition which causes fatigue, insomnia, and depression, and impairs physical function. Ramel's most recent Sunset Tai Chi DVD focuses on the short form used in the Fibromyalgia study.
